Farmers whose lands are acquired for the Amaravati capital project must be compensated strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, Jal Biradari national convenor and Land Acquisition Act Protection Forum (Bhusekarana Chatta Parirakshana Vedika) member Bolisetty Satyanarayana has said.
Addressing the media at the Public Library in the city on Thursday, Mr. Satyanarayana cited registered sale deeds executed between 2019 and October 2025 and said that the average market value of land in the Amaravati urban core stood at ₹5.05 crore an acre. “With 100% solatium under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, the compensation payable works out to ₹10.10 crore an acre,” he said.
He alleged that farmers were being misled into believing that they would receive only ₹1 crore an acre.
Mr. Satyanarayana further alleged that the basic registration values in the capital region had not been revised for 12 years, that acquisition proceedings had been initiated without a Social Impact Assessment, and that nearly 13,000 acres of the 54,000 acres pooled in the first phase comprised riverbeds or flood-prone areas where, he claimed, the National Green Tribunal prohibits construction.
The forum warned that it would seek legal recourse if lands were acquired for compensation lower than that prescribed under the Act.
