The 167th Income Tax Day was celebrated at the Income Tax Office here on Friday.

    Jagdish P. Chandraker, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Tiruchi, presided over the function. K. E. Sunil Babu, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, was present.

    In his keynote address, Mr. Chandraker highlighted the importance of the Income Tax Department and taxpayers in nation building. He recalled the history of the Income Tax Department since 1860 to date. He spoke about the introduction of the new Income Tax Act 2025, reflecting the department’s changing, taxpayer-centric approach.

    Mr. Sunil Babu spoke about the technological developments in the department and its increasing focus on taxpayer services. Subburethina Bharathi, Deputy General Manager, Kauvery Hospitals, Tiruchi, spoke on work-life balance. P. Sridharan, Additional Director of Income Tax (Investigation), R. Rajarajeswari, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Tiruchi, T. Seedha, Srinivasan, Sathish Kumar and Rajasekar, all Deputy Commissioners of Income Tax, participated. Winners of the various competitions conducted as part of the Income Tax Day celebrations were felicitated.
