India Post will host the Digital Detox – Reconnect Through Letters campaign on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 7 pm, at Fiza by Nexus shopping mall in Mangaluru.

In a release, Joseph Rodrigues, Senior Superintendent of Posts, Mangaluru Division, said the campaign is aimed at reviving the warmth and emotion of handwritten letters in an era when conversations are increasingly confined to mobile phones and social media.

The campaign will encourage people to take a short break from their digital devices and rediscover the joy of expressing feelings through handwritten letters. A handwritten letter carries emotions, memories and personal warmth that no instant message or emoji can truly replace, Mr. Rodrigues said.

People of all age groups, including children, students, youth, working professionals, parents, and senior citizens, can attend the campaign. Highlights of the event include free India Post postcards, inland letter cards and envelopes; free writing material for all participants; writing letters to parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, children or anyone who has made a difference in one’s life; posting the letters immediately through the special India Post letter box placed at the venue; a children’s creative corner; a fun quiz on India Post and letter writing; story-sharing sessions on memorable handwritten letters; a selfie point; spot activities; surprise gifts for participants; and free entry, the release said.

The campaign is not merely about writing letters; it is about reconnecting with people, preserving relationships and reminding society that meaningful communication still begins with a pen and paper, Mr. Rodrigues added.
