Hyderabad Vinoo Mankad team felicitated, cash prize given

    The Hyderabad team that won its maiden Vinoo Mankad Trophy (2025-26) was facilitated at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. Hyderabad Cricket Association gave away cash rewards of Rs. 2,00,000 for each player, as well as Rs. 1,50,000 to each member of the support staff.

    Aditi Ashok climbs to tied-33rd as Haeran Ryu shatters course record at Evian Championship

    Indian golfer Aditi Ashok carded a 2-under 69 to make a marginal improvement over her first two rounds and move into a tie for 33rd place with one round remaining at the USD 9.1 million Evian Championship in Évian-les-Bains, France.

    Aditi, who shot identical 70s in the opening two rounds on the par-71 course, is competing in her 38th Major.

    The talking point of the day was South Korea’s Haeran Ryu, who produced a stunning performance in the third round, firing a course-record 60 (11-under) to storm into a three-shot lead at the 54-hole stage.

    Aditi, who has featured in the most Majors by any Indian golfer (male or female) with 38 appearances, made four birdies against two bogeys, with her gains and setbacks evenly split across the front and back nine.

    She picked up birdies on the second and seventh holes while dropping a shot on the fourth. On the back nine, she birdied the 12th and 16th holes, with a bogey on the 14th.

    Jeev Milkha Singh Tied-20th in Irish Legends event

    Jeev Milkha Singh carded a two-under 70 in the second round to lie Tied-20th with one more round to go in the 54-hole OFX Irish Legends at Carton House.

    The Indian ace, who is seeking his first Seniors title, is dividing his time between multiple Tours around the world, including Indian Golf Premier League and Senior Tours in Europe and Japan.

    Pondy Premier League: Villianur Mohit Kings beat Genid Yanam Royals

    Fifties by Mukul Ragav and Prithvi Khanna set up reigning champions Villianur Mohit Kings’ 92-run win over Genid Yanam Royals on Sunday for their fourth consecutive victory in the third Shriram Capital-Pondicherry Premier League.

    Opener Ragav (81, 41b, 7x4, 5x6) and left-handed Khanna (94 n.o., 44b, 9x4, 5x6) shared in a fourth-wicket stand of 85 to power Villianur to a commanding 230/4 on being asked to bat first. Yanam were bowled out for 138 in reply, choked by the spinners, with Alim Shaikhlal Shaikh taking four wickets.

    Suraj Chand advances with comeback win

    Second seed Indian Suraj Chand rallied to beat Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi 6-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-6 in the men’s pre-quarterfinals of the Squash PSA Challenger Tour-Chennai at the Indian Squash Academy on Sunday.

    Men’s seventh seed Om Semwal and women’s third seed Rathika Seelan, fourth seed Sanya Vats, eighth seed Unnati Tripathi and Pooja Arthi Raghu were the other Indians to advance to the quarterfinals.

    West Bengal State Championships: Monika Raha breaks 10-year-old record to take 200m gold

    Monika Raha clocked her personal best 24.44 to break a 10-year-old record and win the under-20 women’s 200m gold medal as nine meet records fell on the concluding day of the West Bengal state athletics championships at the SAI Complex in Kolkata on Sunday.

    East Bengal took the team championship.

    Aditya stars as India assures six medals at Asian U-19 Boxing Championships

    India confirmed six medals in the U-19 men’s category at the Asian U-19 and U-23 Boxing Championships following an impressive showing in the quarterfinals in Jakarta.

    Among the winners, Aditya (55kg) registered a commanding 5-0 victory over the Philippines’ Baruis Ephraim John. Sikander (60kg) followed it up with a 4-1 win against Tajikistan’s Sharifkhon Nuraliev, while Mausam Suhag (65kg) also progressed to the semifinals to assure India of a medal.

    In the higher weight divisions, Devender Choudhary (75kg) registered a dominant 5-0 win over Indonesia’s Muhammad Rayhan Athaillah. Sagar (85kg) impressed with a Referee Stops Contest (RSC) victory in the second round against Indonesia’s Irnanda Firmanda, while Shubham Rajput (90kg) secured an emphatic first-round RSC win over Indonesia’s Nouval Nouval.

    India also witnessed some closely contested bouts. Ambekar Meitei Lairenlakp (50kg) lost 3-2 by split decision to Japan’s Kotaro Nishizaki. Lokesh (80kg) went down 3-1 against Kazakhstan’s Timur Taibekov, while Loven Gulia (+90kg) suffered an RSC defeat in the second round against Kazakhstan’s Vladislav Samozhonov.

    With six boxers advancing to the semifinals, India has assured itself of six medals in the U-19 men’s competition, underlining the depth and potential of its young boxing talent on the continental stage.
