World Junior squash: Anahat, Aryaveer advance to round-of-16
Anahat Singh and Aryaveer Dewan advanced to the round of 16 at the World Squash Junior Individual Championships in Ontario, Canada, on Tuesday.
Women’s top seed Anahat brushed aside Hong Kong’s Pui Yin Chole Lo in straight games in the round of 32 and will next meet Malaysian 13/16 seed Doyce Ye San Lee.
Aryaveer, seeded 5/8, eased past South African Joseph Feast in straight games in the round of 32 and will take on American 9/12 seed Yaseen Shalaby next.
Meanwhile, Gurveer Singh, Yusha Nafees, Saanvi Kalanki, Rudra Singh and Anika Dubey lost to higher seeded opponents.

Indian boys beat Pakistan, Oman in Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship
The Indian sub-junior boys’ team maintained its winning run, outplaying Pakistan and Oman in the Elite Pool of the FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship here.
Led by Ketan Kushwaha, India first registered an emphatic 14-0 win over Oman, with the skipper scoring four goals (6’, 11’, 15’, 20’). Against Pakistan, India prevailed 7-4, with Karan Gautam (5’, 9’, 19’) completing a hat-trick.
The Indian sub-junior girls, meanwhile, were held to a 2-2 draw by China before thrashing Uzbekistan 16-0 in another Elite Pool match.
Trailing for most of the contest after Chen Ge (4’) put China ahead, India fought back through Nousheen Naz (16’, 17’), who scored twice to give her side the lead. However, Jiaxin Guo (19’) netted a late equaliser to earn China a share of the points.
The tournament serves as a qualifier for the inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup.

PCI signs MoU with CPSFI to jointly bid for 2029 World Abilitysport Games
The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and the Cerebral Palsy Sports Federation of India (CPSFI) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly pursue the country’s bid to host the 2029 World Abilitysport Games.
The proposed World Abilitysport Games are expected to bring together over 1,500 athletes, team officials, technical delegates, classifiers, and support personnel from member nations across the world.
The Games programme is expected to feature Para Athletics, Para Swimming, Para Badminton, Para Fencing, CP Football, Para Table Tennis, Para Wheelchair Basketball (3-a-side) disciplines.
As part of the bid process, Chennai and Bhubaneshwar are currently under consideration as potential host cities.
“The Paralympic movement in India has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade. Hosting the 2029 World Abilitysport Games would be another significant milestone in this journey,” said Devendra Jhajharia, President, Paralympic Committee of India.

Taniksha Khatri and Prachi Lohan Script History at Senior World Fencing Championships 2026
Épée fencers Taniksha Khatri and Prachi Lohan created history by becoming the first-ever Indian women’s Épée fencers to qualify for the Main Table of 64 (Direct Elimination Round) at the Senior World Championships.
The Indian pair achieved a monumental milestone on the opening day of the Championships held at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
Both Taniksha Khatri and Prachi Lohan will now prepare to return to the piste on Saturday, July 25, for the Women’s Individual Épée Main Table of 64 direct elimination matches as they aim to advance to the Table of 32 and contend for world championship medals.

India’s Rocket League team secures qualification for Esports Nations Cup 2026
India has qualified for the Rocket League main event at the inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC) 2026 after an impressive run in the Asia-Pacific Regional Qualifier.
The team secured one of the region’s three qualification spots and will represent the country at the global nation-based esports competition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 2 to 29, 2026. Abscrazy, Karvin, Riyal, and substitute Jay booked India’s place at the inaugural global nation-based esports competition. Rocket League at ENC 2026 will feature 48 teams competing for a prize pool of USD 1.32 million (~INR 12.5 crore).

Delhi Half Marathon scheduled for October 18; registrations open on Thursday
The Delhi Half Marathon 2026 will be held on October 18, organisers announced on Wednesday, with registrations for the World Athletics Gold Label race set to open on Thursday.
The race will start and finish at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with registrations for both physical and virtual categories opening on Thursday at 7am.
The race enters its third decade and will feature a prize purse of $260,000, attracting elite and amateur runners from India and across the world.
The 2025 edition had witnessed 39,513 participants, including 9,709 women, and raised Rs 4.12 crore for charitable causes, according to a press release.
The race will also offer complimentary Delhi Metro travel for registered runners on race day, exclusive PUMA race-day T-shirts for Half Marathon and Open 10K participants, and finisher medals crafted using zinc sourced from Hindustan Zinc’s Zawar Mines in Rajasthan.
Registrations will open for the Half Marathon, Open 10K, Great Delhi Run, Senior Citizens’ Run, Champions with Disability Run and Virtual Run categories on July 23, subject to category-wise closing dates or availability of slots.
