World Junior squash: Anahat progresses to quarters, Aryaveer loses
Top-seeded Indian Anahat Singh eased past Malaysian Doyce Ye San Lee to advance to the women’s quarterfinal of the World Squash Junior Individual Championships in Ontario, Canada, on Wednesday.
Women’s world No 20 Anahat, bronze medallist last year, beat her 13/16 seed opponent 11-4, 11-8, 11-3 in the pre-quarterfinal, and will take on Egyptian 5/8 seed Habiba Rizk next.
Reigning Asian U-19 champion Aryaveer Dewan, seeded 5/8, fell to American 9/12 seed Yaseen Shalaby 4-11, 1-11, 5-11.

Inaugural Assam Premier League to start from August 1
The inaugural season of the Assam Premier League (APL), which will feature eight teams will be played from August 1 to 23.
Season 1 will feature 43 matches, including 40 league-stage encounters, two semi-finals and the grand finale. Each team will face every other side once during the league stage, along with three reverse fixtures

F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026 Time Trials from July 30
Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited (MFRL) will host the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026 Time Trials, a talent hunt programme, in New Delhi later this month to give aspiring racers an opportunity to showcase their race craft.
The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam on July 30 and August 1. The Delhi Time Trials are part of MFRL’s nationwide talent identification programme.
The competition carries a total prize pool of Rs. 2 crore, the organisers said.
The winner will earn a place in Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited’s “One in a Billion Hunt”, which features a Rs. 3 crore Driver Development Fund to support their journey into professional motorsport.
“The F1 Sim Racing India Open trials give aspiring racers the opportunity to experience professional F1 simulators first-hand. It allows them to discover their potential and decide if they want to pursue a structured motorsport journey, progressing through the zonal and national stages of the championship and, ultimately, earning the opportunity to take their first steps into professional karting,” said Ameet Gadhoke, MD MFRL.
The event is contested on F1 25, the official game of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Indian men’s and women’s teams continue unbeaten runs at FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship
The Indian sub-junior men’s and women’s teams notched dominating wins against their respective opponents to continue their unbeaten runs at the FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship in Muscat on Thursday.
The women’s team registered a dominant 10-0 win over Kazakhstan while the men’s side defeated Bangladesh 8-3 in their respective Elite Pool matches.
The women’s team will next play China and Uzbekistan while the men’s team will take on Oman and Pakistan on July 24.
The tournament is also the Asian qualifier for the inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup.

India announces squad for World Athletics Under-20 Championships
Senior national record holder Pooja Singh and up and coming long jumper Shahnawaz Khan were on Thursday named in the 36-member Indian team for the World Athletics U20 Championships to be held in Eugene, USA, from August 5 to 9.
The squad features 23 men and 13 women to compete across 18 track and field events.
