Popular streamer IShowSpeed wore an Argentina jersey in an attempt to jinx Lionel Messi and the national team in their FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash against Switzerland.

In footage shared on X, IShowSpeed was seen in the Kansas City Stadium stands wearing an Argentina jersey featuring his name and the number ‘7’ on the back.

The American streamer had made the move in response to internet claims that he is cursed because all the teams he openly supported in the knockout rounds of the 2026 World Cup have been eliminated.

According to a post by 433, IShowSpeed supported Portugal, Egypt, Brazil, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire, all of which have crashed out of the tournament.

The 21-year-old, who is famous for his staunch support of Cristiano Ronaldo, has repeatedly implied that he wants to see Lionel Messi and Argentina eliminated from the ongoing Mundial.

In an attempt to place the so-called curse on Lionel Messi and Argentina, IShowSpeed publicly expressed his support by wearing the La Albiceleste shirt in Saturday’s game, hoping to see South American giants lose to Switzerland. However, his reverse psychology plan backfired as Argentina defeated Switzerland 3-1 to book a semi-final clash with England.

Last month, IShowSpeed was present at Dallas Stadium for Argentina’s group game against Austria. After Messi missed a penalty in the ninth minute, Speed excitedly did a backflip, although he was ultimately made to eat humble pie as Messi responded with a brace.

He was also spotted in the crowd wearing the Egypt jersey during Argentina’s round of 16 clash against the Pharaohs and was left in total disbelief after Scaloni’s side staged a 3-2 comeback win in the match.
