Former Team India batter Subramaniam Badrinath dismissed the retirement talks around Rohit Sharma as mere speculation, considering his seemingly excellent relationship with head coach Gautam Gambhir. The veteran opener failed with the bat in the first two ODIs of the recently concluded series against England, prompting multiple reports suggesting Team India was moving away from Rohit after the series.

However, the champion batter silenced his doubters with a brilliant 110-ball 138 in the third and final England ODI. It was Rohit's first three-figure score in nine innings this year.

Talking about Rohit Sharma's future, with the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind, Badrinath said on his YouTube channel, Cric it with Badri (4:15)

He added:

At 39, Rohit's future has been the central topic of discussion among pundits and fans, considering the ODI World Cup next year.

Subramaniam Badrinath believes Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been put under unfair pressure by the team management, considering their recent performances. The duo, at 39 and 37, remain two of India's prolific scorers despite playing only in the ODI format.

He added:

Despite Rohit and Kohli combining for over half the runs for India in their run-chase of 388 in the series decider against England, the Men in Blue fell short by 27 runs to surrender the series 1-2.
