Veteran Indian opener Rohit Sharma dismissed the external noise around his retirement and immediate future after the ODI series against England. The 39-year-old was the talk of the cricketing world, following his lackluster knock in the second ODI at Cardiff.

Several reports suggested that Rohit could walk away from international cricket after the England series, making the series decider at Lord's his possible farewell outing. The champion batter responded with a breathtaking century in the Lord's encounter despite India falling short of their target of 388.

Reflecting on the outside noise about his future, Rohit said the day after the England series (via BCCI.TV):

Rohit Sharma opened up on relishing his partnership with Virat Kohli in the third England ODI at Lord's. The duo shared a magnificent 113-run second-wicket stand off only 86 deliveries to keep India in the hunt in their massive run-chase.

However, Rohit's dismissal on 138 turned out to be a huge nail in the coffin as the rest of the batters could not cope with the ever-increasing asking rate.

Kohli kept the run-chase going even after Rohit's dismissal, scoring a well-paced 60-ball 74. However, his dismissal in the 46th over with over 70 runs required all but ended India's hopes of pulling off a famous win.
