Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels revealed how Kobe Bryant inspired his refusal of a cart after dislocating his elbow against the Seattle Seahawks last season. Daniels made the revelation in the latest season of the Netflix “Quarterback” series.

Daniels battled multiple injuries throughout last season, including a dislocated left elbow during the Commanders’ Week 9 blowout loss to the Seahawks. The quarterback notably refused to be carted off the field as he left the game, and it came up in the Netflix show.

Jayden Daniels’ injury trouble started in Week 2 of last season with an ankle issue, which sidelined him for the next two games. He suffered a hamstring strain next against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, missing the next game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He suffered multiple hits in the Commanders’ 38-14 loss to the Seahawks, including one from Drake Thomas, which led to his dislocated elbow. The injury, bending his non-throwing arm backward in an unnatural position, was his third major injury setback of 2025.

The quarterback returned against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14. However, he was forced out in the second half after landing on his elbow during a hit. He was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the season and missed 10 games in all, as the Commanders finished 5-12.

Following his gruesome sophomore season, Commanders fans can expect to see Jayden Daniels back in action this fall. The quarterback expressed his readiness for the new season during the team's minicamp, stating that he just continues "to get better."

Daniels spent his offseason undergoing significant physical transformation working with personal trainers to add lean muscles and build up his "body armor."

His comeback trail kicked off in March when he returned to action as a team captain in Tom Brady's Saudi Flag Football Classic in Riyadh. It was the first show that his elbow had fully healed.

Heading into training camp, Daniels is looking comfortable executing offensive coordinator David Blogh's scheme. He will spend the camp building chemistry with new pass catchers, especially tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo.

He will be hoping to replicate the performance that earned him the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024.
