New Delhi: Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan witnessed a sharp decline at the domestic box office on its second day after opening to mixed reviews. The political action thriller, released on July 23, saw its India net collections fall by nearly 50 per cent compared to its opening day. Despite the drop, the film has managed to cross the Rs 63 crore mark in India within two days, with the Tamil version continuing to drive the bulk of its earnings.

Jana Nayagan earned an estimated Rs 21.15 crore net in India on its second day across 12,190 shows, registering a significant fall from its opening-day performance, according to Sacnilk.

The film had collected around Rs 42.70 crore net in India on day one, while its worldwide opening-day gross stood at Rs 78.27 crore. With the latest figures, the movie’s India net collection has reached approximately Rs 63.85 crore, while its India gross collection stands at around Rs 75 crore.

Among all language versions, the Tamil version remained the biggest contributor on day two with Rs 17.95 crore in earnings. The Hindi version added Rs 1.85 crore, while the Telugu version contributed Rs 1.35 crore.

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prakash Raj in key roles.

Produced by KVN Productions, the political action thriller has been widely reported to be a partial adaptation of Anil Ravipudi’s 2023 Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. The film marks Vijay’s final big-screen outing before his full-fledged entry into politics.
