New Delhi: Thalapathy Vijay’s latest film, Jana Nyaagan, has fallen a bit short of expectations. The film has earned Rs 78.27 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk.

The movie, which was expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, could not even surpass the opening numbers of his previous hits, Beast and GOAT.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan earned Rs 41 crore India net, with the Tamil version contributing Rs 36.5 crore. Telugu version added Rs 2.75 crore, and the Hindi version contributed Rs 1.75 crore on its opening day.

The film’s total gross collection in India stands at Rs 48.27 crore. The film’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 78.27 crore, and Rs 30 crore overseas.

Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan couldn’t beat the opening day numbers of Beast, which collected Rs 49.30 crore and GOAT collected Rs 44 crore.

In fact, Jana Nayagan couldn’t even enter the top Tamil films list that crossed Rs 50 crore on its opening day. Vijay’s Leo collected Rs 64.80 crore on its opening day, Rajnikanth’s Coolie earned Rs 65 crore, and Coolie 2.0 minted Rs 60.25 crore.

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is Vijay’s last film as an actor and was originally planned to release before the elections. However, the film was stuck in limbo for months due to pending CBFC approval, which ordered multiple cuts in the film.

Produced by KVN Productions in a reported budget of Rs 500 crore, the film also features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Narain, and others in key roles. The music of the film is given by Anirudh Ravichander.
