New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay‘s much-awaited movie, Jana Nayagan‘s release date is finally out after a long battle with the Central Board of Certification (CBFC). After receiving clearance from the censor board, the makers announced the release date on Wednesday (July 15).

The film is scheduled to release on July 23, 2026, in India. The film revolves around an ordinary man who becomes a symbol of resistance after standing up against injustice and slowly becomes the unexpected leader.

Sharing the announcement, KVN Productions shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Tested by fire. Forged by time. Built for history. Along with a strong caption, the makers also shared a new poster of Vijay, clad in a khadi uniform and holding a sword in his hand.

The film was initially scheduled to release in January this year, but, the film got stuck in a limbo after receiving no clearance from CBFC. The Central Board of Certification had a long review process, which also involved revising the committee and referrals.

The makers then approached the Madras High Court, fighting for the certification, and later appealed in the Supreme Court.

After months of delay, the film finally received an ‘A’ certificate from the censor board after they ordered 12 cuts in the film.

Meanwhile, the film’s total runtime is 3 hours and 3 minutes. It also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil in key roles.
