The Kaliyakkavilai bus stand on Kanniyakumari – Kerala border, handling 150-odd buses every day, will be inaugurated in November this year.

    After inspecting on Wednesday the ongoing rebuilding of Kaliyakkavilai bus terminus at an outlay of ₹9.20 crore, Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap said the busy bus terminus being rebuilt by the Kaliyakkavilai town panchayat with better infrastructure on Kanniyakumari – Kerala border would have additional facilities.

    Since a few thousand commuters would be using this bus stand, facilities like shops, restaurants, drinking water, sanitary complex, cloak room etc. had been created in the two-storey building.

    Hence, the new look Kaliyakkavilai bus terminus, which would be ready for inauguration by November this year, would effortlessly handle 150 buses and the passengers, Mr. Prathap said.

    He instructed the Assistant Director of Town Panchayat to submit weekly reports detailing the progress of construction of Kaliyakkavilai bus-stand.

    The Collector asked the contractor to complete the construction before November this year.

    He also inspected the ongoing construction of primary health centre at Palukal at the cost of ₹75 lakh.
