Amid the ongoing controversy on the "Satluj", Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney has said that Jaswant Singh Khalra pursued the issue of disappearances and illegal cremations strictly through constitutional and legal means and the matter should be allowed to rest.

"The efforts by Jaswant Khalra led to judicial scrutiny, investigations and convictions through the due process of law. Satluj focuses on one specific chapter of Punjab’s history. It is not a film about the entire history of terrorism and militancy in the state, nor does it seek to justify terrorism or diminish the immense suffering endured by thousands of innocent civilians, security personnel, and public servants during those tragic years," Sahney said.

He said now that people have had the opportunity to watch the film, it is time to let the debate rest.

"Instead of reopening old wounds, we should learn from the painful chapters of our past, ensure that such tragedies are never repeated, and work together to preserve the peace, social harmony, and progressive spirit that Punjab has fought so hard to rebuild," he said.
