Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said that Komuravelli Railway station would improve rail connectivity to the famous Mallanna temple (Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy) in Siddipet district and provide an affordable travel option for pilgrims and local residents.
Speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed Komuravelli Punyakshetram Railway Station on the Manoharabad-Siddipet railway line on Sunday, he said the station was constructed at a cost of ₹6 crore, and had been designed with modern features inspired by the architectural grandeur of the Komuravelli temple. “Although the station was not part of the original railway proposals, it was built to meet the growing demand from devotees visiting the shrine,” he said.
The Minister announced that DEMU services operating between Secunderabad and Siddipet would now halt at Komuravelli. As the trains operate with unreserved coaches, travel fares would remain low, making rail travel economical for pilgrims, students, employees and small traders. He said the rail halt was expected to boost spiritual tourism and support local businesses.
Highlighting the progress of the Manoharabad-Kothapalli railway project, Mr. Kishan Reddy said 76 km of the new railway line between Manoharabad and Siddipet had already been completed, establishing rail connectivity towards Karimnagar.
Speaking on railway infrastructure development in Telangana, he said projects worth ₹47,984 crore were currently under various stages of implementation in the State.
The Minister said 40 railway stations in Telangana were being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of more than ₹2,000 crore, with four stations already completed and inaugurated. He also said the long-pending railway manufacturing unit at Kazipet had been established at a cost of ₹521 crore.
Mr. Kishan Reddy said the Railways had also set up 88 stalls across 73 stations in Telangana to provide livelihood opportunities to local artisans, handloom weavers and tribal communities.
Referring to future infrastructure plans, he said three high-speed rail corridors originating from Hyderabad had been proposed, with trains capable of speeds of up to 350 kmph on elevated tracks connecting major capitals.
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar also spoke. Following the inauguration, Mr. Kishan Reddy travelled by train to Gajwel. Former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, MPs Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, M. Raghunandan Rao and railway officials attended the event.
