Seventh seed Raphael Collignon will lock horns with Daniel Altmaier in the first round of the Generali Open 2026.
Collignon made the third round of a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time at the Miami Open. A quarterfinal showing in Brisbane was his other notable result during the hardcourt swing. The clay season was quite successful for him. He won two Challenger titles, reached the final of another Challenger event, and then made the third round of the French Open for the first time.
Collignon started the grass swing on a promising note with a quarterfinal finish in Halle. He didn't win a match on the surface after that. His return to clay at last week's Swiss Open in Gstaad almost fetched him his maiden ATP title. However, he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets in the final.
Altmaier didn't win even a single match on hardcourts. He snapped his losing skid at the onset of the clay swing with a quarterfinal showing in Bucharest. He also made the last eight in Hamburg but faltered at the showpiece event on the surface. He was knocked out in the first round of the French Open by Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Altmaier then bowed out in the semifinals of the Halle Open. He wrapped up his grass swing with a first-round exit from Wimbledon. He lost to defending champion Luciano Darderi in the second round of last week's Nordea Open.
This will be the first meeting between them, so the head-to-head stands at 0-0 for now.

Collignon has a 15-9 record at the ATP level this year. He has tallied nine of those wins on clay. He also has a 16-2 record on clay at the Challenger level this season, with two titles to his name.
Altmaier has gone 11-20 on the main tour this year, with a 7-10 record on clay. He tasted modest success on the Challenger Tour as well. He has a 5-2 record at the Challenger level, and made the final at one tournament.
Given their respective results, it is quite evident that Collignon is the firm favorite to win this match. Furthermore, Altmaier has a 3-10 record against top 50 players this season, further minimizing his odds of success against the newly-minted No. 37 Collignon.
