The police have registered an FIR after taking cognizance of a news report published in these columns on July 16 under the headline “Fresh rave party planned in Parbati valley despite HC warning”, exposing plans for an alleged illegal gathering in the forest near Pulga village from September 4 to 6.

Kullu Superintendent of Police Madan Lal Kaushal confirmed that FIR No. 64/2026 has been registered at Manikaran police station under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the contact mobile number provided for registrations in advertisements circulated on various social media platforms. The police are investigating those behind the event and examining how it was being publicised despite the absence of official permission.

“The FIR has been registered based on the advertisements circulating on social media. Further investigations are underway to ascertain how this gathering was being promoted without the required permissions,” the SP said.

The action marks a fresh crackdown on unauthorised rave parties in the Parbati valley, particularly in the Manikaran region, where such events have repeatedly come under scrutiny over allegations of drug abuse, public nuisance and violations of law. The police said surveillance has been strengthened and organisers of any illegal gatherings would face stringent legal action.

Appealing for public support, the SP urged local residents and tourists to immediately report any information regarding planned or ongoing rave parties. He stressed that community participation was vital in preventing such unlawful events and maintaining peace in the valley.

The police also warned that organisers as well as participants found violating the law would face strict legal proceedings without any leniency. Officials said the administration is adopting a multi-pronged strategy involving ground surveillance, digital monitoring of social media platforms and public cooperation to prevent illegal gatherings and preserve the ecological and cultural character of the region.

The Parbati valley, renowned for its natural beauty and spiritual significance, has in recent years witnessed repeated concerns over unauthorised parties attracting large crowds, prompting closer monitoring by the administration.

Meanwhile, the administration has also resolved an issue relating to alleged threats received by the petitioner in the ongoing Public Interest Litigation on rave parties before the Himachal Pradesh High Court. Abhishek Rai, petitioner in CWPIL No. 53 of 2025, had alleged that a woman had threatened him. Officials said both neighbours reached an amicable settlement on Thursday, agreeing that the incident occurred in a momentary outburst and deciding not to pursue any FIR or legal proceedings against each other.
