Kylian Mbappe on Tuesday broke the record for most appearances at the FIFA World Cup for France, during the side’s semifinal against Spain in Dallas.

This contest was Mbappe’s 21st at the World Cup, which took him past the record of Hugo Lloris with 20 appearances.

Mbappe, the current Frech captain, has never lost a World Cup game in which he has started. He has been named in the starting line-up in 18 games and won 17 of these.

The 27-year-old made his World Cup debut in 2018 as an 18-year-old. He scored four goals as France lifted the World Cup for the second time in its history. He followed it up with eight goals, including a hat-trick in the final, as France ended as the runner-up in 2022.

Mbappe fired another eight goals in this edition of the World Cup, and now sits in the second place with 20 goals in the list of highest scorers at the tournament.
