Kylian Mbappe equalled Lionel Messi’s record for most goals in FIFA World Cup history after scoring in the third-place match against England in Miami on Saturday.
Mbappe opened the scoring for Les Bleus, converting from a Michael Olise assist, three minutes into the second half, netting his ninth goal in the 2026 edition of the tournament.
The two combined for France’s third goal again as the Bayern Munich player set up Mbappe in the box, who expertly struct past Dean Henderson to reduce the disparity from 4-0 at half-time to 4-3.
The France captain’s 22nd goal in the quadrennial event put him past the eight-time Ballon d’ Or winner who will take on Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday.
