Labour Minister Bindhu Krishna has asked the Joint Labour Commissioner, Ernakulam, to submit a report on the termination of over 300 employees of ecosystem development company Talrop before July 20.
The decision was taken following a meeting involving labour officials and representatives of the employees held in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. K.M. Sunil, Additional Labour Commissioner, presided.
The report to be drafted by the Joint Labour Commissioner, Ernakulam, will examine various aspects including the scenario that led to the termination of the employees, salary arrears incurred by the company, situation in which some of the employees had to tender their resignations, and the nature of the firm’s recruitment process, according to a release.
It is estimated that there are 608 employees at the firm. Labour officials have been told to collect accurate details related to the total headcount at the firm. The report will be considered at the meeting to be held with representatives of the employees before July 25. The Labour department will issue notice to the company management after the meeting. It will initiate further steps to provide pending arrears and benefits to the employees who were terminated without prior notice.
