A 55-year-old labourer died after falling from the fourth floor of an under-construction building in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar after a portion of the roof projection allegedly collapsed during construction work, the police said.

    The incident took place around 3 pm on July 10 at WZ-10A, Gali No. 3, Krishna Puri. The police said they received a PCR call about the incident. When the police reached the spot, they learnt that the injured worker, Mohammad Bhola, had already been taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. He was later referred to Lok Nayak Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

    Preliminary investigation revealed that Bhola was working on the fourth floor when a portion of the roof projection suddenly collapsed, causing him to fall and sustain fatal injuries.

    The Crime Team inspected the site. Based on the statement of a co-worker, the police registered an FIR against the building owner, Om Prakash Kataria, a resident of Krishna Puri, Tilak Nagar.

    A case has been registered under Sections 290 and 125A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the at Tilak Nagar police station.

    The police said details of the incident, along with photographs of the building, have been shared with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which has ordered the premises to be sealed. Further investigation is underway.
