The Legal Coordination Committee (LCC) for Government Doctors has urged the State government to create dedicated academic and clinical posts at the Assisted Reproductive Technology centre at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Hospital for Women and Children, Egmore.
In a statement issued, LCC said the government has not sanctioned dedicated permanent posts for this specialised unit. It requested immediate creation of one post of professor and associate professor each, and two assistant professors to sustain this facility.
While welcoming the administrative speed in providing government employment orders to the kin of the Karur stampede victims within 60 days of assuming office, LCC said in stark contrast, the family of Vivekanandan, a government doctor who died during COVID-19, has been running from pillar to post for over five years. The association appealed to the Chief Minister to grant a government job for the doctor’s wife and provide comprehensive relief.
The association also called for immediate implementation of Government Order 354 to ensure Dynamic Assured Career Progression and pay band-4 within 12 years of service for government doctors, bringing salaries on par with States and Union Territories such as Karnataka and Puducherry.
LCC also wanted the sanctioned strength of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff across all government hospitals to be doubled to match private sector infrastructure.
