Argentina captain Lionel Messi extended a heartfelt gesture to the family of FIFA World Cup star Vozinha, as per reports from Argentina. The 40-year-old goalkeeper gained widespread recognition for his impressive displays in his first-ever World Cup for Cape Verde.

According to journalist Yanina Latorre, Messi gave out match tickets during the tournament to people who couldn't afford them. One beneficiary of his action was the family of goalkeeper Vozinha, as the forward also gave tickets out to them to watch the tournament.

Former GD Chaves goalkeeper Vozinha became popular for keeping out Spain in their first game of the tournament, with the match ending in a goalless draw. He made seven saves and kept a clean sheet, becoming the only goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet against La Roja this summer.

He had problems getting his family, particularly his mother, to watch him in action during the tournament due to the high cost involved. The US government stepped in and sponsored his mother's application to visit the country for his games, and she was present in subsequent games after their opener.

Lionel Messi appeared to take responsibility for the match tickets of the family members of the free agent at some point this summer in a kind gesture. The Inter Miami man also praised the goalkeeper to his face during their Round of 32 meeting, which Argentina won 3-2 after extra-time.

Messi has not granted any interviews or spoken to the media since playing in the final in New York, and was left in tears after the defeat to Spain. He has arrived in Rosario, Argentina, having travelled back home with the rest of the squad, but has provided no indication of his next steps.

During the tournament, the Inter Miami man clearly stated that he does not know if this would be his last FIFA World Cup, a similar sentiment to what he put forth before this tournament. He scored eight goals and provided four assists, and may be active by the time of the next tournament in 2030.
