Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Maa Inti Bangaaram gets OTT release date
Samantha Ruth Prabhu's latest film Maa Inti Bangaaram is now ready for its next big milestone after a successful run in theatres. The action drama surprised many with its box office performance, crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide and went on to become one of the biggest female-led Telugu films ever. Now, the wait for its digital debut is over as the makers have officially confirmed its OTT release plans.

The announcement came on Sunday, when the film's team also celebrated its latest box office achievement. For viewers who missed the theatrical release, the film will soon be available to watch from home.

Maa Inti Bangaaram OTT release: When and where to watch

Maa Inti Bangaaram will begin streaming on JioHotstar from July 17, 2026. The announcement was made by the streaming platform as well as Samantha's production banner, Tra-la-la Moving Pictures.

For now, only the Telugu version has been officially confirmed for the OTT premiere. There is no announcement yet regarding the release of dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam or Kannada.

The digital premiere comes less than four weeks after the film's theatrical release on June 19, making it an unusually quick OTT arrival compared to many recent big-screen releases.

Film crosses Rs 100 crore worldwide

The OTT announcement came alongside another major milestone for the film. According to the makers, Maa Inti Bangaaram has now crossed Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office.

The B. V. Nandini Reddy directorial has become the highest-grossing female-led Telugu film of all time. It is also Samantha Ruth Prabhu's biggest box office success as the lead actor. Trade reports have also noted that the film recorded one of the highest overseas collections for a female-led Telugu film and now ranks among India's top-grossing solo female-led movies.

Produced on a controlled budget, the film went on to emerge as one of the biggest commercial success stories of the year.

What is Maa Inti Bangaaram about?

Directed by B. V. Nandini Reddy, Maa Inti Bangaaram stars Samantha as Swarna, a woman trying to build a peaceful family life while hiding a dangerous past as a former assassin. Her old life slowly catches up with her, forcing her to fight once again to protect the people she loves without exposing the truth.

The film also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Gautami, Sreemukhi and Anand in important roles. It is created by Raj Nidimoru, with the screenplay written by Vasanth Maringanti and Raj Nidimoru. The music has been composed by Santhosh Narayanan.

The project is backed by Samantha's home banner, Tra-la-la Moving Pictures, which she launched in December 2023. Maa Inti Bangaaram marks her second production venture after Subham.

Samantha opens up about the doubts before release

After the film's success, Samantha shared an emotional note on Instagram, recalling how some people had questioned whether audiences would watch a woman-led commercial film.

She wrote, "A friend of mine called an exhibitor in a B centre. He didn’t know I was listening. My friend asked, 'What do you think about Maa Inti Bangaram? How much do you think it’ll open at?' The exhibitor didn’t hesitate. 'Why would anyone watch a heroine film? If she’s in a big hero’s film, fine. People know her for the glamour. But a film led by a heroine? Who will come? Nobody.'"

Looking back at the film's journey, she added, "I think real change only happens when someone is willing to take a risk. Most of the time, those risks don’t pay off. Every once in a while, they do. For us, this one did."

She ended her note by expressing hope that the film's success would change the industry's mindset.
