The CB-CID Police in Theni have arrested a man, along with his accomplice, on the charge of murdering his 20-year-old son in 2023.

The police said the body of the youth had been chopped into pieces and dumped into a river. Rajalakshmi of Samadharmapuram had lodged a complaint in September 2023 stating that her son Srikanth had gone missing. The case was subsequently transferred to the CB-CID Police.

It was brought to light that Srikanth’s father Balamurugan alias Vendhar Bala had three wives. Srikanth was the son of the first wife. Vendhar Bala had earlier attacked Srikanth following a dispute over a property and a case was pending against him.

After Srikanth refused to withdraw the case, Vendhar Bala, with the assistance of his friend Karuppiah, made Srikanth drink and murdered him. The body was chopped into pieces and thrown into the river. The CB-CID Police arrested Vendhar Bala and one Alex Pandian in the case, and are on the lookout for Karuppiah.
