The Cyber Crime Wing of the Greater Chennai Police has arrested a 46-year-old man for allegedly uploading a morphed, obscene image of senior BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Facebook.

According to the police, the case was registered on July 3 based on a complaint lodged by B. Giri, Chennai Central (East) district president of the BJP. The complaint alleged that unidentified social media accounts had been repeatedly posting obscene and derogatory content targeting Dr. Soundararajan, with the intent to insult and defame her.

During the investigation, the CCB’s Social Investigation Wing examined the URLs cited in the complaint and identified a Facebook account, ‘Saravana Natchi Muthu’, which had allegedly uploaded a morphed, obscene image of Dr. Soundararajan.

The police traced the account to P. Nachimuthu (46), of Palani in Dindigul district, and arrested him. He was produced before the XI Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Saidapet on Tuesday (July 7, 2026) and remanded in judicial custody.
