A 35-year-old woman sustained stab injuries after her husband allegedly attacked her with a knife while she was lodging a complaint against him at the Enkoor police station in Khammam district on Monday.

Police personnel immediately overpowered the accused and seized the knife.

The injured woman, identified as Rajini, a resident of Yerrabodu Tanda in Enkoor mandal, suffered cut injuries to her left hand. Her husband, B. Rambabu, a farm labourer, was detained. Police said the couple had been living separately for the past few months due to marital disputes.

Earlier in the day, Rambabu allegedly picked up a quarrel with Rajini, a member of DWCRA self-help group, at a bank in Enkoor, where she had gone to repay a loan. She dialled ‘100’ following which a police team reached the spot and took both of them to the police station.

While Rajini was submitting a written complaint, Rambabu allegedly pulled out a concealed knife and attacked her.

Police intervened promptly, overpowered him and registered a case of attempt to murder. The injured woman was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her condition is said to be stable.  Further investigation is underway.
