The police have registered a case against a man identified as Mithun, a native of Chettippadi near Parappanangadi in Malappuram district, for allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video posted on social media.

According to the police, Mithun is undergoing treatment for a mental illness and has been admitted to the Government Mental Health Centre, Kozhikode. The police are also collecting details of those who posted comments that allegedly promoted religious hatred. Legal action will be initiated against them as part of the investigation, the police said.
