A 20-year-old man was found hacked to death inside a math at Samiyar Thottam in Vyasarpadi in the early hours of Wednesday. The police launched an investigation to ascertain the motive and identify those involved.

The deceased was identified as Naresh, 20. According to the Vyasarpadi police, he was found lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries and his face mutilated. The murder is suspected to have taken place around 3 a.m.

Alerted by local residents, the police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The police are analysing CCTV footage from the area to trace the assailants and reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators are exploring multiple motives for the killing, including the possibility of a clash between rival criminal groups or a personal dispute.
