A 35-year-old man allegedly stabbed six people to death, including his wife, two young sons and three members of the family that had filed a PoCSO case against him, in two separate attacks in Shabad mandal of Rangareddy district late on Friday (July 10) night. The accused is on the run.

The accused, identified as B. Rajkumar, allegedly carried out the killings between 11.30 p.m. and midnight at two locations about six kilometres apart before calling his father at around 11.50 p.m. and informing him of the killings.

According to the police, Rajkumar was booked under Sections 11 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after he allegedly stalked and sexually harassed a minor girl. As the offence carried a punishment of less than seven years, he had been released on a personal bond of ₹20,000.

Police suspect the attack was an act of revenge over the criminal case.

The victims were identified as the minor girl, her mother and maternal grandmother, and Rajkumar’s wife Sarita, his four-year-old son and his one-and-a-half-year-old son. Investigators said Rajkumar allegedly used a knife to stab all six victims before slitting their throats. The weapon was recovered from one of the crime scenes.

After receiving the phone call, Rajkumar’s father went to the Shabad police station and informed the police about his son’s alleged confession.

Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi and Deputy Commissioner of Police Yogesh Gautam visited both crime scenes and supervised the investigation. A case has been registered. Police said Rajkumar remains absconding and efforts are on to trace and arrest him.
