A domestic dispute in Rode village of Moga allegedly ended with a man killing his father, police said.

Baghapurana DSP Jaswinder Singh Khahra said police received a statement on Thursday morning from Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Bathinda. She said her brother, Meharjit Singh, lived in Rode village. On Thursday morning, she received a message informing her that Meharjit had died following an alleged altercation with his son, Lovepreet Singh.

She rushed to Civil Hospital, Baghapurana, where doctors had already declared her brother dead.

According to the police investigation, Meharjit Singh, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, allegedly began verbally abusing his son, Lovepreet Singh. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Meharjit sustained severe head injuries that police allege were inflicted by Lovepreet. He later succumbed to the injuries.

Police said further investigation into the case is under way.
