Martina Navratilova has firmly hit back at the accusations of transphobia after her stance on the WTA’s newly unveiled ‘Women's Eligibility Policy'. The former tennis star showed her support for that policy while stating that the organisation supports ‘all women’.

On Sunday, July 19, the WTA announced a new ‘Women's Eligibility Policy' for players looking to compete on the Tour. The set of rules include a mandatory ‘sex-test’ in order to determine the presence of the SRY gene in an athlete’s DNA. While the policy met a large amount of backlash and faced accusations of transphobia, Navratilova was quick to show her support for the new rules.

Taking to X, the American dismissed accusations of transphobia and argued that the WTA supports 'all women', writing,

Martina Navratilova added that she herself took the test for several years prior to the 2000 Olympics when it was disallowed, stating,

Over the years, Navratilova has been vocal about the transgender discussion in sports, vehemently arguing that transwomen shouldn't be allowed to compete in women's tournaments.

Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on several countries with the target of elevating the American economy. However, the move was criticised by many who thought that the tariffs would do more harm than good.

Recently, American investor Steve Rattner discussed the effects of Trump's tariffs, claiming that the 80-year-old cost the nation 75,000 jobs. Reacting to this, Martina Navratilova wrote on X,
