An unprecedented security blanket has been thrown over Jind ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Friday, with nearly 5,000 Haryana Police personnel, including reinforcements from adjoining districts, deployed across the town and elaborate traffic diversions enforced to facilitate the high-security event.

While the Special Protection Group (SPG) will be responsible for the Prime Minister’s inner security, Haryana Police will secure the outer perimeter and manage law and order.

According to police officials, the deployment includes 15 IPS officers, around 50 DSPs, nearly 200 inspectors and about 500 sub-inspectors. Around 600 women police personnel have also been brought in from neighbouring districts to strengthen security arrangements.

Police have established around 80 temporary checkpoints in and around Jind, leading to extensive traffic diversions on several key routes across the district.

Jind Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh said traffic diversions had been enforced across the district in view of the Prime Minister’s visit. “We have urged the residents to cooperate and use designated alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic movement and security arrangements,” he said.

The special traffic plan covers movement within Jind town and inter-district traffic. Police have advised commuters to check route diversions before starting their journey and strictly follow directions issued by traffic personnel.

Special arrangements have also been made for vehicles bringing people to the public rally. Vehicles arriving from Barwala, Hansi, Hisar and Bhiwani will be routed through the Rohtak Road police checkpost, New Grain Market, NH-352, the New Bus Stand and the Safidon bypass service road before reaching the designated parking area. Vehicles coming from Narwana Road, Kaithal Road and Haibatpur Road will proceed directly to the rally venue through Haibatpur Road.

The advisory said inter-district and interstate traffic will also be diverted. Vehicles travelling from Bhiwani towards Punjab, Kaithal and Chandigarh via Jind will be rerouted through Mundhal-Hansi-Barwala, while traffic from Hansi towards Narwana and Chandigarh will move via Narnaund, Kheri Chopta and Uchana.

Similarly, vehicles travelling from Barwala to Panipat via Jind will be diverted through Kheri Chopta, Uchana, Ghoghadiya, Nagura and the Kaithal-Assandh route. Traffic from Rohtak towards Narwana and Kaithal, and vehicles travelling from Narwana and Kaithal towards Delhi, will use NH-152D.

Vehicles from Panipat, Sonepat and Gohana heading towards Hansi, Hisar and Bhiwani will also be diverted through NH-152D.

Additional diversions have been notified for vehicles entering Jind through the Narwana Road bridge bypass, Kaithal Road bypass and Julani and Jalalpura railway crossings. The road in front of Krishna Mandir railway station, besides the Vita Plant Road, Patiala Chowk Road and the road connecting the old vegetable market with Patiala Chowk, will remain closed during the Prime Minister’s programme.

The SP appealed to residents to avoid restricted routes, reschedule non-essential travel wherever possible and use the designated alternative routes.
