Second half goals Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele fired France to a 2-0 win over Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinals at the Boston Stadium on Thursday.

France became the first team to book its place in the semifinals as it aims to make a third successive title-decider.

It was deja vu for Morocco as it fell to the same scoreline against France in the 2022 semifinals.

After a goalless first half, Mbappe curled in a superb effort to break Morocco’s dogged defence in the 60th minute. The goal took the French skipper level with Argentina skipper Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot race with eight goals.

Mbappe made amends for the penalty miss the 28th minute after Yassine Bounou saved his tame attempt from the spot.

Six minutes later, Mbappe set up Dembele to strike from distance to double the lead.

France will face the winner of Spain/Belgium quarterfinal in the last four tie.
