The MDMK, which has always advocated honesty in public life and governance, joined hands with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as the new administration has eradicated rampant corruption that had been spoiling several departments of Tamil Nadu Government all these years under the DMK and the AIADMK governments, MDMK general secretary Vaiko has said.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating removal of ‘seemai karuvelam’ (Prosopis juliflora) here on Thursday, Mr. Vaiko said managements of private schools and colleges had charged that they had to give several lakhs of rupees as bribe during the previous DMK government for renewal of permission and getting new permission for starting schools and colleges.

Hefty bribes were demanded for registration of even small housing plots during the DMK regime.

“Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will quickly learn the knack for providing the best administration,” Mr. Vaiko said, adding that the Tamil Nadu Government would take due steps for improving power situation.

“The DMK, in a bid to ensure uninterrupted flow of the ill-gotten money amounting to thousands of crores to it, was ready to forge an alliance with the AIADMK, which is with the BJP, to make Edappadi K. Palaniswami the Chief Minister, ” Mr. Vaiko said.

On his recent comments that VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan should be awarded Nobel Prize for his demand for unity between the TVK and the DMK, he said: “How can the south and north poles meet at a point? Since both the parties ideologically differ, I said that he (Mr. Thirumavalavan) should be given Nobel Prize for this demand.”
