Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources N. Anand on Wednesday held a review meeting here on the progress of ongoing projects and the activities of the departments.

Collector Pratik Tayal presided over the meeting. K.P. Krishnan, Chairman, Urban Habitat Development Board, MLAs and senior officials of Rural Development and Water Resources Department participated in it.

Mr. Anand reviewed the progress of various projects being implemented in the district. He instructed the officials to ensure transparency in executing works.

Earlier, the Minister held a similar review meeting in Perambalur.

He reviewed the progress of works being undertaken in the Marudhaiyar basin, desilting works, construction of the Kottarai reservoir, status of land acquisition and progress of the alluvial soil project. He also reviewed the new proposals for the year 2026-27.

Mr. Anand inquired about the Arumbavur Lake grading work, V. Kalathur Dam rehabilitation work, and the reconstruction of the Nari Odai and Paravai Odai dams.

New proposals for the year 2026-27 including the construction of a check dam in Kolathur village, the repair and restoration of the Venpavur lake and others were discussed. The Minister instructed the officials to complete the project works in a quality manner.
