A minor collision between two vehicles inside the Dwarka Expressway Tunnel on Tuesday evening allegedly led to a brief scuffle after a taxi driver allegedly attempted to assault another motorist with a stick, the police said.
The police said a PCR call was received at the Kapashera police station around 7.44 pm. The complainant alleged that his WagonR car was involved in a minor collision with a white Maruti Ertiga taxi. Following the collision, the taxi driver tried to assault him with a stick. The caller pushed the taxi driver in self-defence, causing him to fell against a Kia Seltos parked nearby, resulting in minor damage to the vehicle.
The owner of the Kia Seltos stopped the caller and sought compensation for the damage, while the taxi driver allegedly fled the spot before the police arrived.
When PCR personnel reached the spot, the taxi driver had already left. The caller and the Kia Seltos owner later settled the matter amicably, and no injuries were reported.
When the police reached the tunnel, they found neither the damaged vehicles nor any injured persons. During a telephonic conversation, the caller informed the police that he had returned home, the matter had been resolved mutually and he did not wish to initiate any legal proceedings.
The police said efforts were underway to trace the caller, while CCTV footage from the area was being examined to identify and locate the taxi driver.
