Mohun Bahan Super Giant bolstered its midfield and defensive capabilities by adding Dejan Drazic and Alex Saji respectively in the squad for the upcoming season on Sunday.

While Drazic has signed a two-year contract with the green and maroon brigade, Saji has joined MBSG on a three-year contract.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play left wing, will arrive in the city next week as the first foreign buy of the season. Drazic was part of the FC Goa for the last two years. Besides scoring six goals in the Indian Super League last year, Drazic also provided two assists.

The Serbian has previously featured in the UEFA Champions League, the Serbian SuperLiga and La Liga as well.

“Mohun Bagan is one of the biggest clubs in Asia. Alongside its history, heritage and tradition, this club has a massive member and supporter base. So, when the first offer came from the club management, I did not hesitate for a moment to make my decision. Because this club builds its team to win trophies,” Drazic said.

“I had heard about the Kolkata Derby even before coming to India. It is one of the best derbies in Asia. While playing in the ISL, I have seen the emotion and frenzy among the club supporters regarding this match. This will be a special experience. It is a dream for any footballer to play a match like this.”

Meanwhile Saji, who has already earned good reputation playing centre-back playing for the Indian youth team, will strengthen MBSG’s defence.

Last year, the 26-year-old Saji played for Sporting Club Delhi. Prior to this, he has experience playing for renowned clubs like Gokulam Kerala, Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United.
