The Motor City Machine Guns have finally addressed fans following their departure from WWE, and the legendary tag team appears ready for the next chapter of its career. Instead of issuing a straightforward statement, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin released a humorous video that reflected on their release while teasing what could come next.
The duo was released by WWE in April, ending their two-year tenure with the company. During their run, they captured the Tag Team Championship and added another major accomplishment to an already historic resume that includes championship success in TNA, NJPW, and ROH.
Recently, taking to their YouTube channel, the veteran tag team dropped a new video titled "Release." The footage showed Shelley guiding Sabin through the traditional five stages of grief following their unexpected departure from WWE. The clip featured Sabin praying to wrestling icons like Harley Race and Karl Gotch for guidance. He also spent time planking in various random locations, directly referencing a trend popularized by Johnny Gargano. It served as a clear nod to their recent run and the events that followed.
The final segment of the upload shifted focus entirely to their future inside the ring. Shelley and Sabin were seen sorting through a cardboard box filled with documents explicitly labeled as professional wrestling contracts. Among them were offers from promotions such as FMW, CyberFight, Wrestle & Romance, and IWA Mid-South, with several of the contracts featuring bizarre, over-the-top demands that the duo jokingly react to.
The biggest moment arrived at the very end. Shelley and Sabin discovered one final contract from an unnamed promotion. Unlike the others, this one immediately caught both men's attention, with Sabin's mood instantly changing as he finally reached the "acceptance" stage. However, the company behind the contract was never revealed, ending the video on a cliffhanger.

While the identity of the mystery promotion remains unknown, fans have already begun speculating. Many believe the contract could belong to AEW, a destination frequently linked to The Motor City Machine Guns since their WWE release. Others have suggested TNA Wrestling, where Shelley and Sabin established themselves as one of the greatest tag teams of their generation and won multiple championships.
For now, the Motor City Machine Guns are keeping fans guessing, and their next stop in professional wrestling may be revealed sooner rather than later.
Adam Copeland believes AEW already boasts the strongest tag team division in professional wrestling, but he thinks it could become even better with the addition of two former WWE teams.
Speaking on the Westwood One Sports Night, the AEW veteran praised the depth of the company's tag team roster before naming The New Day and Motor City Machine Guns as teams he would love to see join the promotion in the future.
With The Motor City Machine Guns now free agents and speculation about their future continuing to grow, it will be interesting to see which promotion they end up joining.
