Over the past year, multiple WWE legends have retired, such as Goldberg, John Cena, and, most recently, AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One ended his career after losing a match against Gunther at Royal Rumble 2026. Recently, the icon reacted to the idea of coming out of retirement.

On INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Styles spoke about the fragile nature of pro-wrestling retirement, saying that he could come out of retirement: "never say never."

John Cena retired in December 2025 after going on a retirement tour throughout the year that was very profitable for WWE. Many assumed that, going forward, WWE would use the same model with other legends who would retire. However, Styles hung up his boots without a tour, ending his career in his match against Gunther at Royal Rumble 2026.

In the same interview, the host asked Styles whether he had ever thought about having his own retirement tour as Cena did. The former world champion opened up that he didn't need one and he was fine with what he did.
