According to Postmedia’s Ben Kuzma, Wright has already asked for a trade out of Seattle, with his agent confirming positive discussions with GM Jason Botterill about moving him this summer.

Wright has chosen as his preferred destination. The Canucks, who need a young centre, are reportedly intrigued by the idea of landing the former top prospect.

Vancouver Canucks star Elias Pettersson is once again in the rumor mill. According to Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal, the Pittsburgh Penguins are interested in acquiring the Swedish forward.

However, he hinted that a deal between the two teams is not close at this stage, with the Penguins not ready to meet Vancouver’s asking price in return.

He added:

Pettersson is the highest-paid player on the Canucks roster with his eight-year, $92.8 million contract. However, his declining production in recent years has often led to scrutiny for failing to meet the expectations associated with his substantial AAV.

The 27-year-old Swedish forward amassed 51 points (15 goals and 36 assists) in 74 games last season.
