Nick Aldis will face Gunther at SummerSlam, after the two stars have had a number of run-ins in recent weeks.

It seems that Aldis may not be the only star returning to the ring at SummerSlam, since his wife, Mickie James, has also teased making her return. Mickie is a 6-time Women's Champion in her own right and considered to be a future WWE Hall of Famer, but she hasn't wrestled for WWE since the 2022 Royal Rumble.

Following Triple H's announcement that Aldis will make his SummerSlam debut next weekend, Mickie James has shared the following update on Instagram, making it clear that she loves Summer, but she has an itch.

There have been plenty of chances for James to return to WWE, since she has been seen with her husband Nick Aldis when they have been travelling. She was also on the recent European Tour with him, but didn't appear on TV.

Mickie James is a legend that many WWE stars would like to work with, and James could make her return to help her husband at SummerSlam, which could then lead to another WWE run for her.

James was pushing for her seventh Women's Championship when she returned to the company a few years ago, but was unable to capture it. There are a lot of women who would love to work with someone of James' level now as she looks to wind down her career.

The 46-year-old was considered to have one of the greatest women's matches in WWE history at WrestleMania 22 two decades ago and appears to be open to another run.

James also has a history in TNA, which could be another option for the former Women's Champion since they remain under WWE's umbrella at present.

Recent injuries to Stephanie Vaquer and Rhea Ripley have put WWE in a tough position with the Women's Division, so a return for Mickie James could be a game-changer. WWE also has to work out who will replace Nick Aldis as the General Manager of SmackDown, if the plan is for him to not return after the match.
