Former India player Varun Aaron has lauded Rohit Sharma for scoring a century in tricky conditions in the third ODI against England. He highlighted that one cannot expect a batter to score runs in every game.

England posted 387/3 after opting to bat first at Lord's on Sunday, July 19. Rohit smashed a 110-ball 138 in the chase, but couldn't take India over the line as the visitors were restricted to 360/7, losing the game by 27 runs.

During an interaction on the Star Sports show 'Follow the Blues,' Aaron was asked about his thoughts on Rohit's century in the third ODI against England.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (74 off 60) stitched together a 113-run second-wicket partnership after the former had added 147 runs for the opening wicket with Shubman Gill (77 off 84). However, no other player could score more than 20 runs, succumbing to the mounting pressure of the required run-rate.

In the same interaction, Varun Aaron noted that Rohit Sharma was bound to have a lower strike rate since the 2025 Champions Trophy because India have played quite often in seamer-friendly overseas conditions.

The SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling coach added that an opener needs to take his time before playing the big shots in such conditions.

Varun Aaron highlighted that he never felt Rohit Sharma was out of form. He added that the ace batter just needed to get a little tempo into his innings, pointing out that there was no stopping him once he got going.
