India once again left out wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the playing XI for the third ODI against England. The series decider is being played at Lord's on Sunday, July 19.

With Washington Sundar ruled out due to injury, Kuldeep was finally expected to find a place in the side. However, India opted to play fast bowlers in Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, and Prasidh Krishna.

From former cricketers, experts, and fans, the decision not to play Kuldeep received heavy backlash on social media. Fans particularly slammed the team management for the selection.

Moreover, with ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah missing out due to a knee injury, India appear to be lacking an attacking wicket-taking option in the line-up. Having won the toss and opting to bat first, England have outplayed the Indian bowlers with ease, getting to 305/2 in 45 overs.

Kuldeep has done fairly well against England in ODIs, picking 14 wickets from nine games at an average of 34.78 and an economy rate of 5.75. The wrist-spinner has been among the wickets in the format in England as well.

In 10 games, he has bagged 15 wickets at an average of 32.33 and an economy rate of 5.00 with best figures of 6/25. He has played just four ODIs so far this year, often finding himself on the bench.

The wrist-spinner has been a wicket-taker with 194 scalps from 121 ODIs at an average of 27.04 and an economy rate of 5.07.
