Team India legend Ravichandran Ashwin opened up on the double-edged sword of winning or losing against teams like Ireland and Zimbabwe. The Men in Blue are currently in Zimbabwe for a three-match T20I series.

After having suffered successive series losses against Ireland and England, India were back to their dominant best, winning the first T20I against Zimbabwe by seven wickets. While the victory may not seem huge, Ashwin reckoned that beating Zimbabwe in their own backyard was not as easy, explaining his point by highlighting a key difference between international cricket and playing in the IPL.

He stated that conditions are far different while playing overseas as compared to flat wickets back home in the IPL.

As the Men in Blue were criticised for being poor in Ireland and England, Ashwin opined that one could expect players to perform in international cricket the same way they do in the IPL, as opposition would not present you with favourable or familiar conditions. Moreover, the India legend expressed that it was okay to lose as long as the purpose and thinking remained clear, along with youngsters getting exposure.

India beat Zimbabwe comfortably by seven wickets. They would want to repeat the same in the second game and seal the series.

Ravichandran Ashwin was all praise for India's teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed his maiden fifty in international cricket. He also became the youngest batter to achieve the feat, scripting an excellent comeback after three low scores in England.

Ashwin remarked that Suryavanshi was visibly confident, having already played and done well at Harare in the past.

The 15-year-old slammed 50 runs off just 19 balls, setting up India's victory in a 126-run chase. His whirlwind knock included four boundaries and as many sixes at a strike rate of 263.16.
