Renowned cardiologist and BJP leader Dr Aditya Batra passed away in Rohtak in the early hours of Thursday, with a cardiac arrest stated to be the cause of death. He was 45.

Dr Batra, who ran a private hospital in the city, is survived by his wife and two children.

His last rites were performed at the Sheila Bypass cremation ground, where a large number of people from different walks of life gathered to pay their final respects. Several prominent leaders from across the political spectrum also attended the cremation.

According to reports, Dr Batra collapsed in the bathroom of his residence in Sector-2 late on Wednesday night.

He was immediately rushed to his hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him.

Expressing grief over his untimely demise, BJP state president Dr Archana Gupta described his death as an irreparable loss to both the medical fraternity and the party.

“The news of the sudden demise of Dr Aditya Batra, a renowned cardiologist from Rohtak and a senior BJP colleague, is extremely heartbreaking. This is an irreparable loss for the medical fraternity and the organisation. May God grant peace to the departed soul. Om Shanti!” she posted on her X account.
