Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Gaurav Gupta, directed officials to expedite the implementation of the KUSUM-C scheme, an initiative aimed at ensuring quality daytime power supply to farmers across Karnataka.

The State has planned to solarise agricultural feeders under the PM-KUSUM Component-C scheme. Of the total target, 439 projects with a combined capacity of 2,767 MW have already been awarded and agreements executed. Works covering 540 MW have been completed, while implementation of the remaining 2,227 MW is under way.

Reviewing the progress of the scheme at Belaku Bhavan on Tuesday, Mr. Gupta directed all Escoms, KREDL, and implementing agencies to adhere to project timelines and expedite key activities, including land identification, execution of agreements, and commencement of works, in view of the increasing power demand and the need to ensure reliable daytime power supply to agricultural consumers.

He directed KPTCL, ESCOMs, KREDL, CEIG, and project developers to work in close coordination, remove procedural bottlenecks, and complete the projects within the stipulated timelines so that the scheme can help bridge the power deficit while ensuring quality daytime power supply to farmers.

The review meeting was attended by Bescom Managing Director N. Shivashankar, KREDL Managing Director Divya Prabhu, managing directors of other Escoms through virtual mode, and senior officers of the Energy Department, KREDL, and the Escoms.
