OpenAI, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence research firm, has introduced ChatGPT Work, a new agent in ChatGPT that can take action across apps and files, in India on Monday (July 13, 2026).
The firm claimed that ChatGPT Work was designed to complete complex, multi-step tasks by working across various connected apps, files and workflows and stay with complex projects for hours. The work feature is powered by the company’s new GPT-5.6 model family which comprises Sol, Terra and Luna.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Work can generate finished outputs such as documents, spreadsheets, presentations and web applications by using context from apps and files that users choose to connect with it. The AI firm also redesigned its desktop application, bringing together Chat, Work and Codex all in a single interface. The update included a plugin support for services such as Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, calendars and CRM platforms, along with Scheduled Tasks, an in-app browser, claimed the company.
OpenAI further said, the roll out was starting globally and continue gradually towards full availability in a day.
