Hovering around the .500 mark, the San Diego Padres are reportedly still undecided on their strategy heading into this year's trade deadline.

While it would not be a surprise to see president of baseball operations A.J. Preller add to the roster if they Friars string together a run of wins leading upto deadline day, the front office is also listening to offers for some of their star players.

On Wednesday's episode of "Foul Territory," The Athletic's Jim Bowden urged San Diego to consider trading All-Star closer Mason Miller if they can negotiate a similar return to what the Chicago White Sox got when they traded Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox in December 2024.

In exchange for Crochet, Kyle Teel, Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth, and Wikelman Gonzalez made their way to the South Side of Chicago.

Bowden listed the New York Yankees or the Chicago White Sox as two teams that could give the Padres such a return.

Speaking to MLB.com's AJ Cassavell on July 16, San Diego Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller talked about his plans for the imminent trade deadline.

He also backed his team to enjoy a strong second half.

This year's trade deadline is set for 6:00 PM ET on August 3.
